A new festival will help a West Cumbrian village come alive with creativity this month.
The free Imagine Festival will be held in Seascale on May 10.
It has been organised by Everyone Here and shaped by the Jury for Joy and promises a packed day of performances, workshops, exhibitions and activities spread across Seascale’s beachfront, venues and green spaces.
The day will be opened by the very special West Cumbria Massed Brass Band.
Bringing together players from Workington, Whitehaven and Egremont town bands for the first time, it will perform under the baton of Paul Worthington, conductor of Egremont Town Band.
With musicians aged from 10 to over 80, it will perform a lively mixture of traditional brass music, popular hits, and TV and movie themes.
Visitors can enjoy interactive storytelling with Jessie McMeekin, live music at the Calder House Hotel (weather permitting), and a collaborative digital installation by local artist Giles Bennett called Nature’s Algorithms.
Festivalgoers will also have the chance to experience Playscape: How to Build a Galaxy, an immersive dance and motion capture installation, as well as The Lost Bus to Seascale, a theatrical adventure created by Ragged Edge Productions.
The hugely popular Everyone Here Spark Bus returns, featuring the Sekers Objects exhibition created by Handpicked Productions.

The display celebrates the rich legacy of the Sekers fabric factory through stories, artefacts and creative activities on the seafront.
Other highlights include graffiti tile making with Beardy Synergy, experimental filmmaking rooted in the landscape, gold leafing workshops, and surprise flash mob performances choreographed by The Knotted Project.
The day will round off with a moving performance by Cockermouth Rock Choir at the Castle Amphitheatre.
Families, friends and visitors of all ages are invited to get creative, make memories and celebrate the spirit of imagination and community.
Refreshments and snacks will be available throughout the day, and nearly all activities are free and drop-in, ensuring that everyone feels welcome.
No booking is needed for most events.
The festival runs from noon to 5pm on Saturday, May 10.
