
A 27-year-old woman has died following a house fire in Carlisle.
Police confirmed that the woman died after suffering injuries in the blaze on Monday.
She had been taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle after the fire at the home in Cant Crescent.
She is being named locally as Kayleigh Lennox and it is reported that she saved her two children from the fire.
Two children, aged four and three respectively, are continuing to receive treatment at the same hospital. They remain in a stable condition.
She died yesterday, May 1, at 10.10pm, police said.
The coroner has been informed, and a file is being prepared.
A joint investigation into the circumstances of the fire has been carried out with Cumbria police and Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service.
Initial enquiries indicate no suspicious circumstances relating to the cause of the fire, Cumbria police said.
