A Lake District scrambler was airlifted to hospital after falling while out at the weekend.

Langdale Ambleside Rescue Team was called out on Saturday, May 3, to Crinkle Crags.

The casualty had fallen in a place which was hard to reach and needed to be winched out by the Coastguard helicopter.

He was initially treated by the team for his injuries before being flown to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven for further treatment.

It was the second callout for the team on Saturday. Earlier, volunteers had been called to Stickle Tarn.

A man had become unwell while camping. He was treated and evacuated by stretcher to the valley floor to an ambulance for treatment.
