A new taproom has opened in a Lake District village.
The Distiller’s Arms in Grasmere is in the premises formerly occupied by The Good Sport and has undergone a substantial revamp.
It is the new taproom for Grasmere Distillery and features booths made from reclaimed oak from Threlkeld and a brass bar showcasing the distillery’s range of spirits.
In addition to highlighting spirits produced by Grasmere Distillery, including its first whisky, which will be launched in 2027, and beer and cider brewed by the distillery’s micro-brewery, The Distiller’s Arms offers a daily menu of hearty homemade dishes.
Paul and Beth Abbott, co-owners of Grasmere Distillery and The Distiller’s Arms, said: “We are one of the smallest single malt whisky distilleries in England and also the only place that actually makes gin from scratch in Cumbria.

“We wanted our taproom to be somewhere that people can enjoy our grain-to-glass spirits – all of them distilled from scratch in Grasmere.
“Last year, it was basically top secret that we were laying down casks of single malt whisky – but no longer!
“If people are curious about Grasmere Whisky, we want the Distiller’s Arms to be a relaxing space to come and enjoy it.

“The whisky won’t be released until 2027, but there is a range of delicious small batch spirits to enjoy in the meantime, including our signature Grasmere Gin and tonic, which always goes down a treat.
“Just as we create our spirits completely from scratch using Lakeland water, the food in the Distiller’s Arms is all homemade and uses local suppliers throughout, including the likes of Pennington’s Coffee, Sandham’s Dairy, Hawkshead Relish, as well as local butchers and greengrocers.”
