Plans are being finalised for the second Dave Day to mark the life of Barrow-born Dave Myers and raise money in his memory.
Last year thousands travelled to remember the much-loved Hairy Biker in his home town.
The event this year, on June 21 is likely to draw even more, benefiting good causes close to his family’s heart.
His wife, Liliana, said: “I lost Dave to cancer and the statistics are dire, telling us that one in two people will be affected by derivatives of this illness in the following years.
“What we can do as a community is to support institutions that help families who go through this ruthless illness and Dave Day does exactly that.
“Our efforts are geared towards giving every person who attends the weekend a good time while raising money to alleviate the distress caused to so many who are going through cancer.”
As well as the ride north from London which is taking registrations now, events are being held in Barrow to provide entertainment for young and old.
“The events are all arranged by a team who each have day jobs too so I’m in awe that they find the time and commitment to help,” Lili said.

As well as the support of police and Highways Agency to get people to Barrow safely a rock concert, exhibition about Dave at the Dock Museum and more have been planned.
Cancer Care and NSPCC Childline will benefit from the proceeds of the day.
Last year, the event raised £127,460.

Lili added: “If you haven’t, please register for the ride, book your tickets on the various events during the weekend.
“If you can afford, donate to our charity or sponsor something for the weekend. And remember we are putting Barrow on the map while giving people a great weekend!”

A new book about Dave will also be published by Liliana as she told Cumbria Crack earlier this year.
