Cumbrian movie lovers might spot some familiar locations in the latest Mission Impossible film, starring Tom Cruise.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning hits cinema screens on May 21.
Megastar Cruise caused a stir when he and a film crew arrived in the Lake District in 2021, 2022and 2023 to film scenes for the preceding film, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning and this direct sequel.
The actor is known for doing his own stunts and spent time in Buttermere to film some major action.

Scenes appeared in Dead Reckoning and the Lake District also features in Final Reckoning.
Cruise’s terrifying stunt filmed in the Lake District was speedflying – one of the most dangerous sports in the world.

Paramount has released a behind-the-scenes video about the stunt, shot when they were in the area in 2023.
While in the area, he met fans and happily posed for pictures.
Adam Wheeler and Lucy Hinch, of Barnard Castle, County Durham, were hiking in the Lake District with their Siberian Husky Blitz when they happened on the Top Gun actor shooting for the blockbuster in 2022.
The 60-year-old, who was being helicoptered to High Crag before soaring down to Buttermere below, happily posed for a photograph with the pair, before thanking them and leaping off again.
Adam said: “He was nice and polite and really humble. Tom Cruise apologised for the noise of the helicopters and asked if we were all right.

“He was making sure everybody who wanted to, got their photos with him. We were the last ones to get his picture and then he just paraglided off the mountain back to his camp next to Buttermere.

“It was a real pleasure meeting one of the most famous Hollywood celebrity actors out there – one of the richest as well.
“It was not what we expected while out walking on the fells.”
