The founder and director of Save Windermere has been named among the 100 people making the biggest impact on the UK’s environmental policy.
Matt Staniek has been included in the 2025 ENDS Power List and is one of only 18 campaigners acknowledged for shaping green policy and legislation over the past two years.
This national recognition follows a landmark year for the campaign.
Matt said: “I’m incredibly honoured to be named on the 2025 ENDS Power List, alongside 18 other environmental campaigners who have made the greatest national impact on green policy and legislation over the last two years.
“Most notably in the last year, we have secured a commitment from Mr Reed to end sewage pollution in Windermere. But we’re not stopping here. We will keep campaigning until we secure a legally binding commitment that ensures Windermere can never be exploited again, and that it is finally free from sewage pollution.”
The list, now in its fourth year, features people who have met at least one of four broad criteria.
They may have shaped or influenced national or local environmental policy, their actions may have enhanced the reputation of the environmental profession, their work may have resulted in demonstrable and positive environmental improvements or they may be unsung heroes, who – without acknowledgement or accolades.
