A Cumbrian animal rescue charity is set to open its new kennel complex.
Eden Animal Rescue’s new kennel complex will officially open at its Moorlands Head Farm head quarters at Newbiggin on Saturday May 31.
Local MP Tim Farron will be cutting the ribbon on the kennel block, which has been funded by a £75,000 grant from Pets Foundation, other smaller grants, two generous legacies and donations and fundraising by committed supporters.
The complex will provide shelter for 20 dogs – and the public and their dogs are being invited to celebrate at Eden Animal Rescue’s centre near Temple Sowerby.
The opening event will start at 10am with stalls, pet shows, refreshments and tours of the new kennel complex.
As the new kennels open for business, the team of fundraisers at Eden Animal Rescue are continuing their fundraising activities to complete the payment for the building and the conversion of the old kennel block into an indoor training and exercise area and a new reception office and staff room.
Chair of Eden Animal Rescue, Chris Cheetham said: “Visitors will see the greatly improved facilities for both the dogs, staff and volunteers who care for the animals.
“Thanks to generous donations, legacies, grants and fundraising we have been able to complete the building of the new kennel unit on time”.
Work started on the new kennels in late 2023 and was completed at the end of 2024 with the dogs moving in to their new and greatly more comfortable accommodation in March.
There are still opportunities to sponsor an individual kennel and have your family or business name displayed for visitors to see the support you have given to this project.
More information about the new kennel block and ways to donate are available on the Eden Animal Rescue website www.edenanimalrescue.org.uk
