Thousands of people enjoyed a free afternoon of family entertainment at Carlisle’s Upperby Gala over the weekend.
The event, which took place at Hammond’s Pond, saw families enjoy a programme of activities which this year included performances by Community Dance Groups, The Bjamba Band and Pedal Power vs Parkour.
Organised by Cumberland Council and supported by the Friends of Hammond’s Pond Group, Upperby Gala was held on bank holiday Monday, May 26, between 1pm and 4pm.
Local charity and advice stalls were also in place and there was a chance to sample sports and exercise activities including Yoga Masters and Wheels of Wellness.
Other activities included Carlisle Hammond’s Pond Railway, children’s entertainers and activities, a fun fair, an owl magic display, zoo madness, forest skills tasters and face painters, plus community outreach from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and Cumbria Police.
Cumberland Council councillor Anne Quilter, portfolio holder for vibrant and healthy places said: “A huge thanks to all those involved in organising this year’s event and thanks also to the comperes, performers, stall holders, Hammond’s Pond Café and the Friends of Hammond’s Pond.
“It was a great success and attracted thousands of visitors.”
