Police have made 12 arrests in the last five days of people suspected being under the influence of drink or drugs.
The arrests, in the Eden area, have prompted Cumbria Constabulary to warn motorists not to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs following a spate of arrests in the Eden area.
Officers arrested 10 people after they were deemed unfit to drive due to being under the influence of drugs.
A further two arrests were made for drivers being above the alcohol limit.
The majority of those arrested reside in the local area, police said.
Cumbria police added: “There is an increased roads policing presence across the Eden and South Lakes area and officers will continue to hold those who are putting other people in danger to account.”
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is one of the Fatal Four’ – the four main behaviours which cause death or serious injury on the road network alongside speeding, using a mobile phone at the wheel and not wearing a seatbelt.
