Casa Italian’s The Reaper

A Cumbrian restaurant is turning up the heat as it launches a new food challenge.

Casa Italian in Whitehaven has created The Reaper – a fiery new pizza packed with extreme heat and even hotter bragging rights.

Launching on Thursday, June 12, the restaurant said the stone-baked beast is built to test even the most fearless chilli lovers.

The Reaper Pizza Challenge dares diners to finish the dish solo, in 25 minutes, with no help or breaks.

They will also have to sign a waiver before attempting to pull off the feat.

As well as bragging rights, those who complete the challenge will not have to pay for the pizza, win a gift card for the restaurant and have their name on the Wall of Flame.

What’s on the Reaper?

  • Shredded chicken tossed in a 12 million Scoville chilli sauce
  • Jalapeños
  • Caramelised onions
  • Spicy ‘nduja
  • A generous helping of Carolina Reaper crushed chilli flakes
  • Finished with ghost chilli-infused chilli jam

Dean Hodgson, owner of Casa Italian, said: “We’ve been crafting this challenge for weeks – testing different chillies and sauces to find the perfect combination of dangerously hot and seriously tasty.

“We’ve had tears, hiccups, and drank pints and pints of milk trying to dull the burn – but we’ve created something unforgettable.”

The challenge is for strictly for over-18s only. There is limited daily availability and booking is advised.
