An annual event to raise funds for independent lifeboat Maryport Rescue has been so popular, it has been extended to two days this year.
Maryport Rescue Annual Fun Day will take place today and tomorrow, June 14 and 15, at Marine Road in the town.
The theme is cowboys and people are invited to dress in their best Western gear – there’s prizes for the best dressed.
It will include performances from local bands and singers including Kerry Weir and Logan Paul Murphy, food and drink stalls, fun fair rides, Clydesdale horses, vintage military vehicles, Leyland buses and classic cars, emergency services displays and live demonstrations, an aerobatic stunt show by Steven Bakhiari and army reserves.
This year’s team of four competition is between Maryport Rescue & Maryport Solway Sea Cadets, in the Rubber Duck Hustle for the Neil Marland Memorial Shield.

Maryscruffs fun dog shows will take place on Saturday and a pedigree dog show will take place on Sunday.
Register on the website or on the day from 10am to 12.30pm. The shows begin at 1pm
Winners of a school drawing competition will be revealed on Saturday. Their design will be printed onto a flag and raised by crane – then gifted to the winner after the event.
Organisers thanked Maryport Town Council for its continued support of the event and Maryport Rescue, and to all the local businesses which have donated prizes for the fun day’s raffle.
