A Lake District hotel is launching a revamped restaurant.
Rowan, at the Rothay Manor in Ambleside, will be led by head chef Cameron Smith.
A long-standing member of the Rothay Manor family, Cameron’s talent is homegrown and brs a shared passion for championing local produce and creating a new dining experience, the hotel said.
It added: “While Cumbria may be home to the most Michelin starred restaurants outside of London, the region’s dining scene tends to sit in two camps – fine dining restaurants and the more rustic, muddy boots pubs and cafes.

“Rowan bridges the gap, shaking up the UK’s culinary capital with a new approach centred around locally sourced dishes, simple but stylish presentation, and a friendly atmosphere.
“Moving away from offering signature tasting menus, this is now the place for long lunches, evening gatherings, and food that celebrates local flavour without the fuss.”

Jamie Shail, co-owner of Rothay Manor, added: “We want guests, either staying with us or popping by, to feel they can truly relax here.
“Whether they’re back from a walk around Windermere or just want to enjoy a glass of wine with friends, our new food offering is about making people feel at home.

“And with Cameron stepping up we’re proudly spotlighting spectacular local suppliers with a fresh take on top-quality, yet laid-back Lake District cuisine.”
