A West Cumbrian teenager has been selected to join the Scotland Rugby League Girls Under-16s team.
Chloe Forster, 15, of Egremont, will play her first game with the team at the end of this month.
The youngster will also be part of the Under 16s Scotland International Rugby League player development programme – which aims to put the girls on a pathway to the 2030 Women’s World Cup in Australia.
It’s a huge achievement for Chloe, who is believed to be the first Cumbrian to be selected for the Under-16s team and development programme.
Jen, Chloe’s mum, said: “Rugby is a massive part of her life and she hopes to follow in the footsteps of her grandad who was also selected to play rugby league for Scotland and her aunty who competed for Scotland in athletics.
“She loves the game and the team players and she trains three times a week with rugby and twice a week she goes to the gym to build up her strength and stamina.
“Meeting different people from across the country due to playing with different teams and building strong friendships is such an important aspect of the game for Chloe.
“Rugby comes first and everything else fits around it! She is hoping to have a successful professional career doing the sport she loves!”
Chloe has just completed her third season with Egremont Rugby Union and their U16 girls team, which saw them win the Cumbria Cup this season.
She is currently playing in her second season at Egremont Rangers Rugby Union U16 girls, who play their home games at Gillfoot park in Egremont.
She is also a member of the school rugby teams at West Lakes Academy.
Jen added: “She was selected to be a part of the player to performance pathway at Barrow Raiders Rugby League and trains with them every Tuesday.
“This commenced at the start of the season in September following selection. 12 elite under 16 girls were selected to join the programme. The principle of this programme is to develop each players skills individually.
“Then in May she was offered the opportunity to try out for the Under-16s Scotland International Rugby League Player development programme and was delighted to be selected.”
Chloe has been looking for people interested in sponsoring her journey to help with the purchasing of kit and attendance at all camps, games and other opportunities involved with being part of the team.
So far, she has been supported by Egremont Rugby League Youth and Adult Committee, Thomas Graham & Sons Ltd, Boonwood Garden Centre and MEN’s Wooden Creations.
Those interested in helping sponsor Chloe on her journey to chase her dreams are encouraged to get in touch with Jen Forster via email at Jen_racer@hotmail.com or phone on 07739 510752.
