Over 4,000 properties in Maryport will have access to full fibre broadband by August.
It is the latest community to be connected thanks to Fibrus and work is being carried out in the town by the firm.
Colin Hutchinson, group managing director and CFO at Fibrus, said: “We’re delighted to be able to bring the benefits of our full fibre network to even more communities in Cumbria.
“The latest connection of Maryport means that local residents and businesses connectable to the network will benefit from fibrefast speeds.”
As well as investing in improving the local broadband infrastructure, Fibrus said it was committed to investing in the local communities which it serves.
The Fibrus Community Fund has seen the company invest £60,000 over the last 12 months to tackle digital poverty across Cumbria.
This investment sits alongside Fibrus’ Play it Forward fund, which supports grassroots clubs and has provided grants to nearly 20 sports clubs across the region, including £1,000 for new playing kit for Maryport Athletic FC under-16s. It also sponsors Workington Town RLFC.
