Over 20,000 bikers rode into Barrow this weekend to remember Hairy Biker Dave Myers.
They were there to mark the second Dave Day, a tribute to the TV star who died of cancer.
Crowds lined the streets to welcome them into the town and raise money for two charities – CancerCare North Lancashire & South Cumbria and NSPCC Childline.
His wife, Liliana, said: “I lost Dave to cancer and the statistics are dire, telling us that one in two people will be affected by derivatives of this illness in the following years.
“What we can do as a community is to support institutions that help families who go through this ruthless illness and Dave Day does exactly that.
“Our efforts are geared towards giving every person who attends the weekend a good time while raising money to alleviate the distress caused to so many who are going through cancer.”
Last year, the event raised £127,460.
As well as the ride out, which saw bikers travel from the Ace Cafe in north London to the town, a concert was held yesterday, featuring Renegade, Hells Bells, The Aerobees, Sugarfoot and Don’t Tell Alice.
Rain didn’t spoil the parade – although it rain did hit the town, it soon passed and the hot weather dried out bikers and crowds alike.
Today will see a charity football match at Barrow AFC. Organisers of Dave Day have worked with North West Community Stars Football Club to host a Legends (and celebrities) vs Bikers match, which kicks off at noon.
Also taking place today is a motorbike stunt show, family entertainment, motorbike exhibition and food festival in the town centre and a health and wellbeing festival in Barrow Park.
