Carlisle United Football Club have signed David Ajiboye on a two-year deal.
Ajiboye, 26, started his career with Brighton and Hove Albion, where he made his EFL Trophy debut in the summer of 2017 against MK Dons.
He also spent time with Millwall’s under-23s and Worthing on loan, before the latter signed him permanently following his release from the Seagulls in 2018.
The attacker then joined Sutton United, who achieved promotion to Sky Bet League Two during his three-year stay at Gander Green Lane and also appeared in that campaign’s Team of the Season, prior to signing for Peterborough United in League One for an undisclosed fee in June 2022.
During his stint contracted with the Posh, he also enjoyed loan periods at York City, Newport County and former club, Sutton United.
Head coach Mark Hughes said: “We’re excited to welcome David to the club. His speed is exceptional, and he gives us a real edge going forward.
“He’s been part of a promotion-winning side and knows what it takes to compete at a higher level. That experience and his hunger to make an impact are exactly what we need for the forthcoming season and he will add to the variety of attacking options we now have.”
Head of football operations Marc Tierney added: “We’re thrilled to welcome David to the club.
“He’s a fantastic addition who brings an exciting, entertaining style of play, along with blistering pace and sharp agility that will add real strength to our attacking options.
“He’s a huge boost to the team and we’re delighted to have him on board!”
This deal will be completed upon the expiration of his current contract and he will officially join the club on July 1.
He follows Morgan Feeney, who returns to Brunton Park on a two-year deal.
The centre-back initially joined the Cumbrians in January 2021 on a deal until the following summer, prior to penning a one-year extension which included a club option for a further year until the end of the 2022/23 season, which was ultimately activated.
After captaining the Blues to promotion in 2023 – beating Stockport County on penalties in the play-off final at Wembley, he then joined Shrewsbury Town where his contract expired this summer.
Forward Regan Linney has also joined the side from Althincham FC. The Preston-born striker started his career at Bamber Bridge where he broke into the first team aged just 17.
FC United of Manchester signed him for an undisclosed fee in 2019, where he went on to make 97 appearances and scored 40 goals.
In his two-and-a-half seasons with Altrincham, he made 93 appearances and scored 44 goals.
However, striker Matty Dennis has turned down the offer of a new contract and will sign for a club in the EFL.
Dennis, 23, signed a short-term deal with United in February and made 14 appearances, scoring six goals.
