Two Carlisle-based charities have won a major award.
iCan Wellbeing Group CIO and Carlisle Eden Mind are among 21 2025 Weston Charity Award winners, collecting a support package valued at over £22,000.
The Weston Charity Awards support the vital work of small charities across the Midlands, Wales, and the North of England.
Award winners gain free access to Pilotlight 360, an eight-month support programme of charity leadership coaching worth an estimated £16,000.
Experts from private and public sectors offer professional mentoring on topics from income diversification to long-term business strategies.
Award winners also receive a grant of £6,500 from the Garfield Weston Foundation.
iCan Wellbeing Group CIO and Carlisle Eden Mind were chosen from over 160 applicants.
Lisa Bridgewater, co-founder and chief operating officer of iCan, said: “We are thrilled to be a recipient of this award in 2025 and one of only two Carlisle-based charities.
“We have a few challenges to try and overcome, including improving our traded income to keep our centres open with overheads that often other funding does not cover and improving on our management structure.
“As a micro charity this opportunity allows our senior leaders time to focus and work on the big picture of our charity so we can continue the good work we do for a social and financial future supporting our community.
“In 2024 we worked with 5,500 community members. We are excited to meet our team of expert mentors and learn from our lived experienced colleagues on the programme.”
