Thursday saw the first of the Latrigg meetings take place where 55 hounds turned out on the night.

Up first were the Seniors with a field of 11, Huntsman’s Rebel for Denise and Jenny Bland, and Graham Little was sent off as the favourite.

The hounds can be seen going through the fell past the trail field and it was kennel mates Huntsman’s Rebel and Huntsman’s Time for Denise and Jenny Bland, and Graham Little, who were leading the race from Huntsman’s Quantum for Alan and Adrian Little in third and Mel for Les and Graham Reid, and Ellie Napier in fourth and Huntsman’s Quartz for Ian Donaldson in fifth with Foxparke Sidekick for Robyn, Ellie, Grace and Nicola Napier and Brooke Butler in sixth.

The hounds come back into sight as they drop down into the bottoms before the big climb onto the finish and Huntsman’s Rebel was still leading the way this time Mel was in second and Huntsman’s Time in third and Foxparke Sidekick in fourth.

As they showed onto the finish, Huntsman’s Rebel came on to win by 100 yards from Mel who made a lot of ground up and finished strongly with Foxparke Honk Honk for Robyn, Ellie, Grace and Nicola Napier and Brooke Butler taking third.

The pups saw 15 hounds lining up at the slip. Huntsman’s Unite for Denise and Jenny Bland, and Graham Little was sent off as the favourite.

As the hounds went out of sight, it was Nellie’s Pride for Jonty and Evie Moore, and Jack Thompson who was leading from Foxparke Rita’s Rose for Robyn, Ellie, Grace and Nicola Napier, Brooke Butler and Darren Clark.

As they came back into sight and dropped into the bottoms before the big climb it was Foxparke Cheese and Beans for Robyn, Ellie, Grace and Nicola Napier, Brooke Butler and Glenis Farren who was leading from Foxparke Rita’s Rose and Brown Sugar for Graham and Les Reid, and Ellie Napier.

The three hounds began to pull away but just before they went out of sight they had a scale and allowed the chasing pack to take the lead.

As they showed onto the finish it was Foxparke Cheese and Beans who had managed to get back to the front with Huntsman’s Unite in second and Nellie’s Joy for Jonty and Evie Moore, and Jack Thompson in third.

Nellie’s Joy put in a great finish to take the win from Huntsman’s Unite in second and Minnie for Les and Graham Reid, Erin Rowlandson, Barbara Jones and Steven Walker in third.

Up next were the Open Maidens, with a field of 19. Croft Lass for Stanley, Carole and Sarah Jackson, Ricky Deacon and Donald Hodgson was sent off as the favourite.

As they showed onto the finish, three had broken clear and Lucky Moon for Geoff Higgins took the win from Foxparke Dealer and Ruby.

The final trail of the evening was the Veterans with 10 hounds. Eagle Rock for Linda Neale, Mark, Josh and Georgia Bryden was sent off as the favourite.
