The suspension footbridge that connects Portinscale to Keswick is closed for essential maintenance today.
Cumberland Council said the project involved replacing deteriorated structural elements, which will help to preserve the bridge’s safety, reliability, and long-term integrity.
The maintenance work was due to start at 7am today, Monday June 30, and will be completed by 3pm.
It will be temporarily closed to pedestrians and cyclists during these hours.
Cumberland Council added: “While this initial closure is planned for just one day, please be aware that further maintenance may be required at future dates as part of our commitment to maintaining high standards for local infrastructure.
