Anti-social residents move out after threatened with police order

Occupants of a house in Penrith have moved out before police issued an order forcing them to leave.

Eden Police said officers from the neighbourhood team recently issued a closure warning letter to the occupants of an address on Rimington Way in the town, following complaints of serious anti-social behaviour, disorder and drugs use, which was causing distress to the local community.

Sergeant Phil Hall, of Eden Neighbourhood Team, said: “On receipt of this warning, the occupants decided to vacate the property prior to closure powers being enacted, restoring much needed peace and tranquillity to the community.

“Closure powers are just one of many civil powers we use on our team to solve problems. We work closely with our legal team and partner agencies in pursuing all powers available to us to safeguard our communities.

“If you are intent on carrying out anti-social behaviour or disorder in our communities, you can expect a knock on the door from one of our officers.

“If you are experiencing anti-social behaviour, disorder or drugs misuse in your community, please don’t suffer in silence. Contact us online or by ringing 101.”
