The countdown has begun for this year’s Langwathby Scarecrow Festival.
Taking place in the village on July 19 and July 20, it will feature almost 50 entries on the scarecrow trail, a playground, cake stalls and a children’s activities marquee.
The Shepherds Inn and Saddleback’s, on the village green, will also be open.
The event runs from 10am to 2pm each day.
The scarecrow festival is raising money for a new playground for the village.
Organisers said: “The project is going great thanks to the hard work by lots of the committee.

“Big developments have been that with working with tradespeople within the local area, we are now looking at a reduced fundraising an amount of £68,000 instead of the original £92,000 and we have raised around £37,000 so far.”

Community interest in the project continues to grow, organisers added, with Lambkins nursery holding a fundraiser and the school doing a sponsored run.
There is also the sell-out monthly quiz night at The Shepherd’s Inn.
