A 21-year-old sex offender has been jailed after approaching under-16s in public.
Charley Currie, of Rinkfield, Kendal, was subject to an interim sexual harm prevention order, which banned him from doing so.
The order is designed to protect the public from sexual harm by restricting an individual’s behaviour.
Currie admitted two breaches at an earlier hearing and was sentenced yesterday, Thursday July 17, to nine months in prison.
The breaches occurred in Kendal and included two occasions where he approached a child under the age of 16 in a public place.
DC Francis Bowers, of Cumbria’s Management of Sexual & Violent Offenders team, said: “Currie clearly poses a risk to children which has been demonstrated in two brazen breaches of the court order imposed against him.
“He was well aware of the strict conditions of his order yet showed complete disregard for them and approached children on two occasions.
“We would like to reassure the community that we will continue working hard to bring more people like Currie to justice and get them behind bars.
“Cumbria’s Management of Sexual & Violent Offenders team are committed to managing sexual offenders and will take a zero-tolerance approach against anyone found to breach the terms of these preventative orders.”
