Cumbria’s Development Team has a special match at Keswick next week.

The 50 overs clash on Thursday is against the Dilip Vengsarkar Cricket Academy who regularly come over to the North West.

They are based at Westhoughton Cricket Club and the two sides met for  the first time last year at Westhoughton when the Cumbrians won by 60 runs.

Oliver Spedding, of Carlisle, who hit a career-best 145 no for his club on Saturday, top-scored with 101 not out against the Indians.

Vengsarkar was a leading Indian Test batsman in the late 1970s and 1980s once reaching no.1 in the ICC rankings and was captain of India for a while.

The tour is arranged by Rudra Singh, father of Lancashire’s Harry Singh who has played for Cumbria.

The match is due to start at 11am.
