Leeds snooker professional Oliver Lines brought the curtain down on the L&L Property Contractors Snooker League season.
He gave a superb exhibition at a packed Workington Working Men’s Club, delivering a memorable night of entertainment and elite-level cueing.
The 30-year-old main tour pro played nine exhibition frames against league players from across the divisions, showcasing his talent while also embracing the Cumbrian banter that flowed freely throughout the evening.
Among those to face Lines was Mark Tatton, Tier 2 high break and aggregate points winner from Workington’s Veterans Club A team.
Tatton rose to the occasion with some fine potting and steady composure and the Vets A cueist pulled off a superb frame win against the touring professional — a moment that drew a huge cheer from the home crowd.
Lines, a former European Under-21 Champion and son of snooker stalwart Peter Lines, remained in high spirits throughout, chatting to fans, joking between frames, and making sure the atmosphere was as enjoyable as the snooker itself.
After completing the frames, he presented this season’s trophies and awards, before joining league members for drinks and post-match celebrations — further cementing his place as a popular guest among the local snooker community.

League chairman and MC for the night Kevin Basnett said: “Oliver was fantastic, a truly genuine guy, very professional, and a brilliant ambassador for the game of snooker.
“He embraced the event with genuine warmth and humour, and the standard of snooker on show was first-class.
“Nights like these finish the season off perfectly, and Oliver’s presence made it the night we were all hoping for.”
The event, which took six months to plan, would not have been possible without the efforts of Colin Fawcett of Workington Working Men’s Club, league treasurer Dave Chapman, and league secretary Andrew Mitchelhill.

The league also thanked its dedicated sponsors – Leigh Musgrave and Lewis Tilley, of L&L Property Contractors, Stephen Jackson and Andrew Carter, of Derwent Valley Asbestos Removal and Demolition.
Basnett added: “I’m absolutely delighted with how the evening went. The players, the crowd, and of course Oliver made it truly special.
“But I can’t thank Colin, Leigh, Lewis, Stephen and Andrew enough for their support in making this night possible.”
