Two West Cumbrian GP surgery buildings on market

Oxford Street Surgery, Workington

Two Workington GP surgery buildings are up for sale.

The Workington GP Practice is selling its surgery on Oxford Street and the Beechwood practice building on John Street.

It announced earlier this year that a major revamp of its Orchard House site would see 10 new clinical rooms created and the facility upgraded.

Work began in April and is due to be completed by the end of next month.

The Beechwood surgery was a pair of three-storey terraced homes, converted into a surgery and also includes a single storey extension.

It is on the market for £195,000.

The Oxford Street surgery has yet to be listed online.

In a statement, the practice said: “As part of our ongoing premises work, we have made the decision to sell our Beechwood and Oxford Street sites. We appreciate that some of our patients were registered with these sites for many years.

“We also understand that our patient and staff feedback has been clear in showing that people find it easier when the practice works from fewer sites and appreciate being seen in purpose-built buildings.

“The opening of the new rooms in Orchard House will reduce the number of clinics that take place in James Street in the future to ensure we make best use of our purpose-built space.

“Going forward, we advise all patients with in-person queries to please attend Orchard House site as we will have more staff on site to support with this.

“We would like to thank everyone for your ongoing support at this exciting time.”
