The increasing number of clubs not revealing home attendances in professional rugby league has been a regular occurrence in recent years.
But at least Whitehaven should be in a position to reveal accurate figures from now on.
For Sunday’s derby clash with Workington Town, the Recreation Ground club announced an official crowd of 1,497.
A club spokesman said: “It’s the big question we get asked all the time on crowd figures and to be totally honest it’s always been a bit of a guesstimate.
“But no guessing now with our new ticket partner Tyg Tickets we can tell you exact numbers.”
The new system was introduced for the derby clash and the club revealed figures of:
- Adults 772
- Concessions 277
- Under 16s 179
- Hospitality guests 93
- Players’ friend & family tickets 55
- Haven player tickets 50
- Town player tickets 25
- Mascot parents 26
- Coaches 2
- Town directors 10
- Charity collectors 8
Attendances at Dewsbury and Newcastle on Sunday weren’t given, with 702 announced for Goole’s game with Keighley which was played at Featherstone.
