West Cumbrian star James Trafford could be heading back to Manchester City.

With increasing speculation about City’s two senior keepers moving on – Ederson and Stefan Ortega – City have been weighing up their options.

Trafford, who started his professional career with City, has enjoyed a particularly good season with promoted Burnley and is increasingly being linked with a return to the Etihad.

While neither senior keepers’ departure has been finalised, City are preparing their shortlist and beginning discussions with possible targets.

Trafford, 22, a keen supporter of his local club Workington Reds, was a City Football Academy graduate and is said to be personally keen on a move back to the Etihad Stadium

When he moved to Burnley two years ago, in a deal worth up to £19 million, it was to gain more senior experience – which he has been able to achieve.

The entire deal is said to still depend on whether Manchester City offload either Ederson and Ortega, with the former attracting interest from Galatasaray.
