
A nine-year-old girl has been taken to hospital after a collision with a motorbike in a north Cumbrian town.
Police were called to Aspatria today, Monday July 21, at around 5.40pm.
A motorcyclist had collided with a wall at North View and been seriously injured – although police said the rider’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
The rider, a man in his 20s from Aspatria, was taken to Carlisle’s Cumberland Infirmary.
As a result of the collision, the bike also collided with a nine-year-old girl. She was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary for further checks, however her injuries are not believed to be serious at this time, police said.
It had been reported to police that prior to the collision there were two motorcycles driving in a dangerous manner in the area.
Police have arrested a 35-year-old man, of Aspatria, on suspicion of dangerous driving and police obstruction. He remains in police custody.
Police said it was investigating the full circumstances of this incident and are appealing for witnesses to the collision or those who observed dangerous driving prior to the incident to get in touch.
Officers are also asking for people in the area who may have relevant footage from dash cams or doorbell cameras to contact them.
