Two legal firms have raised over £4,000 for Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors and Brockbanks Solicitors took part in Make a Will Month campaign in February.
The campaign, which began in 2021, invited people to make a simple will in exchange for a donation to the charity.
Both firms waived their usual fees, instead encouraging clients to contribute to Hospice at Home West Cumbria, which provides vital end of life care and support to patients and families across the region.
Lucy Fuggle, solicitor and a trust and estate practitioner at Brockbanks Solicitors, said: “Brockbanks were privileged to support Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
“By making a will through the scheme you are able to organise your own affairs while knowing our fees are going towards supporting such an important charity in the local area.”
Claire Wilson, senior associate solicitor at Cartmell Shepherd Solicitors in Cockermouth, said “This year marked the fourth year that we’ve been proud to participate in Make a Will Month.
“This is a valuable opportunity to create a professionally drafted Will, while also supporting our incredible local hospice with a donation.
“We understand that discussing end of life wishes can be difficult, but leaving clear instructions for your estate ensures that your wishes are honoured, and your loved ones are supported during a challenging time.”
Rebecca Clifford, of Hospice at Home West Cumbria, said: “We are really grateful to both Brockbanks and Cartmell Shepherd for their ongoing support and to everyone who participated.
“Every penny raised goes towards providing compassionate end of life care for local people, helping them when they need it most.”
