Meet the donkeys of Barnhill Donkeys Retreat at the Westmorland and Dales two-day festival later this month.

Judith, Lady, Toni and Sky will be attending the festival at Kirkby Stephen on Saturday July 26 and Sunday July 27.

The Barnhill Donkeys Retreat, at Sleagill, works tirelessly at rehabilitating the animals in its care.

Most are rescued from the worst possible conditions, having been abused in many ways, and require very intensive treatment and care to nurse them back to health.

A lot of them can be incredibly nervous when they first arrive, but with sensitivity and love the charity is able to rehabilitate them.

Over time they become more confident, friendly and eventually develop real characters.

The rescue will be bringing different donkeys on each day so you will be able to see what great personalities they have.

You can meet Judith and Lady, on Saturday and Toni and Sky on Sunday.

They will be there between 10am and 4pm both days, with the festival officially starting at 11am each day.

As a rescue, the work at Barnhill is entirely dependent on donations and fundraising efforts.

Come and meet the donkeys, have a chat with the people from Barnhill, and find out more about the work that they do.

They will also be selling a range of special donkey themed items and gifts from their stall, so people will be able to take something home with them as a memento.
