Workington Comets will be without Australian Tate Zischke for tonight’s Championship meeting at champions Poole.
Zischke, who will be 20 next week, damaged a foot while racing in Poland yesterday and has had to pull-out of the fixture.
He will be having physio and then travelling to Poole to support his team-mates in what is a huge fixture for them.
Having beaten the Pirates at Northside 10 days ago they expect a serious response from their hosts to gain revenge.
But the Comets are in good heart and followed-up the Poole win with a comprehensive victory over Scunthorpe on Saturday.
For the clash with Poole tonight the Comets will be operating rider replacement for the absent Zischke.
Team manager James Denham will be hoping for a similar result to the rider replacement used against Scunthorpe when Antti Vuolas was on international duty.
After no points in the opening race, when Zischke was last, the following replacement rides produced 8+1, which is considered a good return.
Zischke’s highly promising debut season in the UK was ended prematurely by injury last year and he has taken time to regain his confidence but has been showing recently just what a fine prospect he is.
