
Emergency services were called out after reports of a sinking vessel in the Lake District.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team, Cumbria police and Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team and the Coastguard helicopter were called to Ullswater yesterday, Wednesday July 23.
When a Coastguard officer and police arrived, the vessel was full submerged.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team said: “There were no reported persons onboard, but to confirm this a search was initiated.
“While police continued enquiries, Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team, who were already mustering were requested to launch their rescue boat to search the area of interest, with Coastguard rescue officers arriving and conducting a shoreline search.
“The Coastguard rescue helicopter from Prestwick soon arrived to assist with its onboard thermal imaging.
“After a comprehensive search, nothing found and no one reported missing, the search was suspended in the early hours of this morning pending any further new information.”
