Whitehaven have had to move quickly to secure a new half-back.
They only have one recognised fit half-back following the decision to release Cameron Brown and with Jack Newbegin failing his head injury assessment.
As a consequence they have signed Joe Lowe on a short term deal from Rochdale Hornets.
Wigan-born Lowe spent much of his early life in Australia, enjoying three years playing for Sunshine Coast Falcons in the Queensland Cup.
He returned to the UK at the start of 2023, initially on trial with Swinton Lions.
He went on to feature eight times for the club in all competitions after impressing during their pre-season fixtures.
From there, he completed a move to France’s Elite 2 competition. He has been there ever since, representing Tonneins who are based in the Lot-et-Garonne region.
Having contacted the club seeking a return to the UK following the conclusion of the French domestic campaign, Lowe linked up with Hornets on a deal running until the end of the 2025 season.
The 24-year-old operates primarily in the halves but is also capable of operating at full-back.
Whitehaven issued a big thanks to Rochdale for helping get the loan deal done swiftly as they travel to Keighley on Sunday.
