A Lake District guest house has been sold for over £1 million.
The Westbourne, a Victorian guest house near Bowness village was on the market for £1.14 million by owners Andre and Susan Louis.
The sale was handled by Colliers. After more than a decade of dedicated ownership, the couple have now retired and the property has been acquired by Greg Murison and Angela Stephen.
It was originally built in 1888 as a gentleman’s residence. The Westbourne includes nine en suite bedrooms and a detached, two-storey suite, as well as adaptable owners’ or staff accommodation and private parking.
Greg and Angela are relocating from Aberdeen. Greg brings experience from the offshore industry, while Angela has long-standing roots in hospitality. The couple were drawn to both the beauty of the Lake District and the strength of the business.
They said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to take on The Westbourne. It’s a beautiful property in an incredible location, and we feel privileged to be stepping into a business that’s been so well cared for by Andre and Susan.
“We’re excited to continue their legacy and bring our own energy and ideas to this next chapter.”
Haydn Spedding of Colliers’ hotels agency team, said: “Andre and Susan have operated this guest house and established both a high turnover and very profitable business over a great number of years.
“The sale highlights the continuing demand for good quality, profitable and well-presented businesses in the Lake District.”
