Kendal Town must still wait to find out whether they will make the North West Counties Premier Division play offs.
The Mintcakes will travel to Wythenshawe Town if fifth place is confirmed but their position can be overtaken by Charnock Richard who were set four games in six days, and four victories would take them a point above both Padiham and Kendal.
This taxing finale brought this comment from the Charnock Richard management: “Pep and co might complain bitterly about playing more games than they would like, but we just get on with it!”
They certainly started the right way with a 5-1 win last night against Irlam, a home game which had to be played at Burscough because their own ground is having new drainage installed.
Tonight they travel to Barnoldswick; on Thursday they are at Colne and on Saturday play Pilkington, again at Burscough.
They can’t afford to even draw any of the four games, and Kendal won’t know if they are playing at Wythenshawe Town until they do.
Wythenshawe Town’s local rivals Wythenshawe, won the League and go up automatically as champions with Bury and Padiham certain to be playing in the play-offs but can’t get their game on until Charnock Richard’s fate is known.
