[C]ranstons Carlisle Fisher Street shop, which has traded in the heart of Carlisle City centre for the past 32 years will undergo a complete transformation this summer.

The shop will be remodelled and restyled as a local produce food hall bringing it up to date with the standards of Cranstons recent Food Hall openings at Orton Grange and in Brampton.

The refitted Food Hall will offer shoppers Cranstons renowned butchery and delicatessen counters along with an enhanced range of grab and go produce and a broader range of complimentary local food and drink.  Cranstons will be stocking bestselling lines from their other food halls including: milk, yoghurts, cheeses, chilled desserts, locally made cakes, jams, chutneys, confectionary and ice cream. The Food Hall will be licensed to sell wine and ale from three Cumbrian breweries.

Barry Pearson Manager at Cranstons Carlisle explained how a new takeaway breakfast and lunch area within the shop aims to be a real destination for people looking for food on the go in the city centre.  Barry said ‘We are really excited to be bringing the full Cranstons Food Hall concept to our loyal customers. I am particularly excited about the new and improved hot and cold takeaway food area which features a big new hot counter,  a new bean to cup coffee machine and a completely new salad bar and sandwich area.’’

Local building contractors Postlethwaite Construction Ltd will start work at the end of May and Cranstons hope to officially open the refurbished premises at the end of June. The shop will remain open throughout the project with sections being sectioned off for phased work to be completed whilst produce continues to be served elsewhere in the Food Hall.

Philip Cranston, Managing Director ‘We last refurbished the shop in 1999 so I am looking forward to seeing the modern fresh interior and new more shopper friendly layout our designer has devised come to fruition. The food hall concept, combining our own quality meats and delicatessen produce with food and drink from elsewhere in the county has proved a real hit elsewhere so we are very excited to be able to offer this shopping experience in the heart of Carlisle.’’
