Plans submitted for 40 new homes in Greystoke

story homes[P]lans have been submitted for a development of new homes on land east of the Thorpe, in the village of Greystoke.

Story Homes has submitted outline proposals to build up to 40 high quality new homes on this site. This follows the refusal of an earlier application in 2016, and since then the developer has sought to address the reasons for refusal through a reduced scheme.

David Hayward Planner for Story Homes said; “We have listened to the feedback from the Council’s planners and local residents and reduced the scale of the development. This will provide a less dense scheme combined with provision of open space, and increased landscaping on the boundaries of the site to minimise any visual impact.

“We believe that the our product is appropriate for this site due to the high quality of our houses and also our dedication to building developments which complement the local area, through thoughtful planning and design.”

Proposals would create a sustainable and integrated development that would make an important contribution to the district’s housing supply. The development is located to ensure good access to local services and facilities, and will not have an adverse effect on the local highway network.

The proposed development would deliver a mix of dwellings, and some of these new homes will be affordable. A mix of terraced, semi-detached and detached family homes are envisaged and the house types would be selected to would reflect the local vernacular and housing needs of the area.

Full details of the application can be viewed at on the Eden District Council website using the application reference 17/0333. A decision on the application is anticipated in Summer 2017.
