[D]avid Allen, a local accountancy and business services firm, launched their charity partnership with the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) in September 2016.

The team at David Allen had hoped to raise more than £15,000 for the charity, with their Platinum Ball being their finale event. Following the Ball hosted by the firm on Friday 23 June, which seen the team celebrate 20 years in business, they are delighted to announce that they raised a staggering £20,551 on the evening.

David Allen, Managing Partner at the firm said: “We recognise the importance of supporting the local community in which we live and work. The GNAAS are saving lives across our County and I am really chuffed that our Platinum Ball has raised more than £20,000 for such a fantastic cause.

“I would like to thank all of the businesses and professionals who supported our event, with special thanks to Explosive Productions for delivering an unbelievable evening of entertainment. I am proud that our Charity of the Year initiative continues to generate such a fantastic amount of money for local charities to benefit from.

“The evening was organised in association with ECi Company, Hillcroft Park and Bendles Solicitors, without which, it would not have been possible and I am incredibly grateful for their support.

“We were delighted to have our very own celebrity join us on the evening as Johnny Vegas joined the table of Hillcroft Park. Johnny who has been filming locally for the hit television series ‘Home from Home’ took time out of his busy schedule to celebrate with us and even contributed a filming experience on set, as an extra for the BBC One comedy sitcom which was well received by guests and raised £1,700 towards our total for the evening. We would like to thank Johnny for his kindness and for the endless selfies he endured on the evening.”

Alison Welton and Kerrie Allison – event organisers

Over the next month the David Allen team will be finalising their year of fundraising and announcing their grand total before choosing a new charity partner for 2017/2018. Each year the team chooses to work with a nominated local charity in order to give something back to the local area, and help boost funding for these much valued services.
