Four hurt in Newby Bridge crash

[F]our people have been hurt in a serious two-car road traffic collision on the A592 north of Newby Bridge near Blake Holme.

Police were called at 4:30pm.

The collision involved two cars, a blue Ford Fiesta and a silver grey SAAB.

A passenger in the SAAB, a 74-year-old man was conveyed to Preston hospital with serious injuries were his condition is said to be stable.

The female driver of the Ford and the driver and other two passengers of the SAAB all received minor injuries.

A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 4:34pm two fire engines from Windermere and Ulverston attended a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Newby Bridge in Ulverston.

“Four casualties were released prior to the arrival of the fire service.

“Firefighters administered first aid to all four casualties and the casualties were conveyed to hospital.

“Crews were in attendance for just over two hours.”

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact Kendal Mobile Support Group on 101 quoting log 157 of 8th July.
