[A] woman and three children have died following a house fire in Bolton.
Shortly after 9am this morning (Saturday 8 July 2017) police were called to reports of a fire at a house on Rosamond Street.
On arrival a man had managed to get out of the house but a woman and three children were still inside.
Following a search by firefighters from GMFRS everyone was rescued out of the property.
A child was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman and two children were taken to hospital where they died shortly afterwards.
The children include two boys and a girl, all under the age of 13.
The man, who managed to escape, is currently in a stable condition.
Officers remain at the scene and roads in the surrounding area have been closed.
A joint investigation with Manchester Fire and Rescue has been launched to establish the cause of the fire.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Bridge, from GMP’s Bolton borough, said: “These are utterly heart-breaking circumstances and our thoughts go out to anyone affected by this tragic incident.
“This appears to be a family home and we have been working to inform loved ones of this awful loss.
“I know the community will feel the impact of this and I assure you we are working with our colleagues at GMFRS to get to the bottom of what happened, although we are currently not treating it as suspicious.
“This means there will be officers and fire investigators in the area for some time and I would like to thank residents for their patience so far.
“GMP along with GMFRS will be working together to provide assurance to the community over the coming days.
“This happened on a Saturday morning when many people would be up and about and I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to please call us.”
