[S]ix men have been charged in connection with a significant drug seizure made in Hull earlier this year.

As part of an on-going operation by GMP’s Serious and Organised Crime Group, a Scania HGV was stopped at the King George Docks by UK Border Force officials on Wednesday 17 May 2017.

A subsequent search of the vehicle saw officers seize approximately 58kg of cocaine and almost 84kg of heroin, the combination of which is believed to have a street value of approximately £66,502,000.

The following men have now been charged with two counts of conspiracy to fraudulently evade any duty/prohibition/provision and two counts of conspiracy to supply a Class A drug.

  • Julian Solomon (05/05/1980) of HMP Forest Bank
  • David Reece (08/08/1962) of Ludlam Ave, Nottinghamshire
  • Jason Starmer (22/11/1975) of HMP Liverpool
  • Everton Bailey (11/12/1960) of Mandarin Way, Derbyshire
  • Graham Rawlings (16/05/1959) of Sussex Road, Southport
  • Gerrard Young (20/02/1970) of Heathwood Road, Manchester

All of them have been appeared today, 3 August 2017, at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court where they were remanded to appear at Manchester Crown Court on 31 August 2017.
