Woman, 25, who died after Rossendale house fire, had been stabbed

[A] woman who died following a house fire in Rossendale has been named.

Leanne Collopy, 25, died at hospital yesterday (August 3).

Police were called around 10.45pm on Sunday (July 30) following reports of a fire at a property in Burnley Road.

Emergency services attended the address with Leanne, as well as a 39-year-old man and a 23-month-old girl, all rescued from the building.

All three were taken to hospital suffering a number of serious injuries. Following further investigation Leanne was found to have suffered a number of stab wounds.

The 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in hospital undergoing treatment.

The 23-month-old girl is also undergoing treatment.

Det Chief Insp Mark Vaughton: “These are tragic circumstances and my thoughts are with Leanne’s family and friends.

“Our enquiries continue to establish exactly what happened.

“Anyone with information about the incident can contact police on 101, quoting log reference 1670 of July 30.”
