[A] child has been hospitalised with life changing injuries after a collision in Oldham.

At around 6.10pm on Wednesday 9 August 2017, police were called to Princess Road to reports of a collision involving a Vauxhall Astra and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 10-year-old-girl, was riding her scooter home from Princess Park.

Princess Road was closed for three hours whilst emergency services worked at the scene.

Princess Park was also secured by officers to allow the air ambulance to land.

The girl suffered multiple injuries and was taken to hospital for surgery, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

The driver of the car was not injured and remained at the scene to speak with officers.

No arrests have been made.

Police Constable Paul Hailwood of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are doing all we can to support the girl’s family at this very traumatic time and our thoughts remain with her as she receives treatment in hospital.

“Our investigation to establish the exact causes in the lead up to this collision remains ongoing.

“As the collision occurred in a residential area, we are appealing to anyone that could have witnessed this collision to come forward with information.”

Anyone with information or dashcam footage should contact GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 quoting reference number 1647 of 09/08/17 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
