
[P]olice have confirmed that a woman has now died following a collision on the A6 near Plumpton last week.
Ann Miller, 74, from the Penrith area, died of her injuries in the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle, yesterday (August 15th).
Mrs Miller was the front seat passenger in a VW Golf which was travelling north on the A6 between Penrith and Carlisle on Wednesday August 9th.
The collision occurred at approximately 12:30pm on August 9th in the area of Plumpton Foot, the car collided with a white Mercedes van which was travelling in the opposite direction.
Mrs Miller was airlifted to hospital.
The driver of the VW Golf was taken to CIC with minor injuries. The van driver was uninjured.
The family of Ann Miller have released the below tribute to a ‘loving wife and mother’.
“Ann was a very quiet and respectful, genuine person. She loved to look after her family and was a good cook.
“She cared deeply for her husband, children including the late Matthew, grandchildren and wider family.
“Ann was originally from Carlisle but lived in Penrith where she was well known and she enjoyed shopping, particularly with her daughter Louise.
“Ann will be very sadly missed by all her family including her husband Matthew, children Louise, George, William, Matthew and Marlene.”
The family would like to extend their thanks to the Air Ambulance and Paramedic crews, staff at the Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle, staff at Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle and Cumbria Police for their care and help during this difficult time.
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision and ask anyone with information to contact PC 2219 Young on 101.
