[A] 22-year-old man from Troutbeck near Penrith has appeared from custody via-video-link at Carlisle Magistrates Rickergate court complex.
Michael Edward Roiston Chapman is charged with an allegation of he intentionally attempted to cause or incite a girl to engage in sexual activity.
A further allegation on the same day March 14 he allegedly attempted to engage in sexual activity with a girl.
Chapman was remanded in custody to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on September 25.
Magistrates were informed the defendant must register on the sexual offenders register.
