[I]n celebration of the UK’s best home and garden brands, the Daily Express newspaper held its inaugural Express Home and Living Awards 2017 on 26 October 2017. Sure to become a highlight in the awards calendar, the first ceremony took place at London’s iconic Grand Connaught Rooms in
Covent Garden, announcing fourteen category winners in total.
Recognised for its luxurious, handcrafted and sustainable bed-in-a box mattresses, herdysleep was presented with the ‘Best Eco Living Solution’ award – the brand’s second award win in less than a month!
Launched in February 2017, herdysleep is a collaboration between Cumbrian brand Herdy and luxury British mattress makers, Harrison Spinks.
Championing both superior comfort and social responsibility, herdysleep is committed to supporting the local Lake District farmers by paying twice
the market rate for every kilo of Herdwick Sheep wool that goes into its mattresses.
The event was hosted by comedian Mark Dolan, whilst the judging panel consisted of BBC’s Martin Roberts of Homes Under The Hammer, Gabrielle Blackman of DIY SOS, Martin Townsend, Editor of The Sunday Express, as well as senior journalists Victoria Gray, Deborah Stone and Louise Midgely
from the Daily Express and Sunday Express.
The Express Home and Living Awards is a celebration of the UK’s best household products, services and retailers. From kitchen and bathroom designers and suppliers, to outdoor living products and ecoliving innovations, these awards champion the fresh new ideas being introduced in British homes.
As well as recognising style, value and practicality, the awards highlight excellence in customer service and sustainability.
Darren Marcangelo, Co-Founder of herdysleep comments: “After only launching at the start of 2017, we are incredibly proud to have been awarded the ‘Best Eco Living Solution’ at the first Express Home and Living Awards.
herdysleep offers a mattress made with a passion for the very best responsibly sourced natural materials. We developed a mattress fabric that is naturally fireretardant without the need for additional chemical treatments, providing the best possible chemical-free surface for a restful night’s sleep. Additionally, by incorporating less foam into the design, our mattresses are less reliant on petrochemicals and source their cloud-like comfort from the 6,000 innovative pocket springs (based on a king size mattress).
Sustainably sourcing the Herdwick wool from the Cumbrian farmers, we are committed to supporting the Lake District community and are proud of the work that has gone into making a mattress that boasts genuine eco credentials.”
