[A]llerdale Borough Council’s refuse and office opening arrangements over the Christmas and New Year period are as follows.

Bin/recycling collection times:

During the week commencing Monday 25 December, refuse, paper and purple bag collections will take place two days later than normal. For example, collections due on Christmas Day will instead be taken on Wednesday 27 December and Friday collections will take place on Sunday 31 December.

For the week commencing Monday 1 January 2018, collections will be picked up one day later than normal. For example, collections due on the Monday will take place on Tuesday 2 January and Friday collections will take place on Saturday 6 January.

If you would like your real or artificial Christmas tree collected, please place it next to your general waste on your specified collection day. Please check your waste collection calendar for details of specific dates.

For more information, visit www.allerdale.gov.uk/bincollections where you can check bin collection dates, report a missed collection, and check for any severe weather that could affect collections.

All Household Waste Recycling Centres are run by Cumbria County Council. Please visit their website http://www.cumbria.gov.uk/ for details of opening hours during the seasonal period.

Office opening dates/times:

Allerdale House in Workington and the Council’s telephone lines will be closed from 12 noon on Friday 22 December 2017 until 8.45am on Tuesday 2 January 2018. The Customer Contact Centres Keswick, Maryport and Wigton will close at the same time and will reopen at 9am on Tuesday 2 January 2018. The area office in Cockermouth, which is based in the library on Main Street, will reopen at 10am on the same day.

The emergency out-of-hours number while the offices are closed over the festive period is 0303 123 1702.

Allerdale Borough Council’s website http://www.allerdale.gov.uk/ can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There is a secure online payment facility as well as specific pages to report any problems; from dog fouling to noise pollution.

Multi-storey car park:

The multi-storey car park in Workington will close at 7pm on Sunday 24 December and reopen at 7am on Tuesday 26 December.

Leisure Centres:
