Lee Clayton leaving Carlisle Crown Court

[A] MAN who admits committing class A drugs supply crimes at the Kendal Calling music festival has been warned immediate prison is “almost inevitable”.

Lee Clayton faced four charges when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today (MON).

Clayton, said to be a 46-year-old father to three children, admitted possessing class A cocaine, ecstasy and LSD – along with class B ketamine – all with intent to supply. His offences were committed on July 29 last year at the annual music event in Lowther Deer Park, near Penrith.

Recorder Kevin Grice adjourned the case and asked for the preparation of background information, including a pre-sentence report and medical details.

Clayton, of Devonshire Drive, Accrington, was granted bail and told he would receive his punishment on Thursday this week.

But Recorder Grice told him: “You will appreciate that an immediate custodial sentence is almost inevitable.”

*Clayton’s partner, Tracey Joanne Tomlinson, appeared alongside him in the dock. Tomlinson, a 39-year-old mother-of-two, of the same address, admitted possessing one ecstasy tablet and two small wraps of cocaine – both for her own personal use – at Kendal Calling on the same date. A woman of previous good character, she received an 18-month conditional discharge.
