Brian Fulton

[O]n the 7 March 2018, Brian Fulton of Fultons Lakes Jewellery Works in Keswick became a Freeman of the Goldsmiths’ Company for his contribution to the goldsmith and jewellery trade.  Brian was elected by his peers in the industry and was officially welcomed to the Company at a ceremony the Goldsmiths Hall in London.

It contributes to British life by supporting its related crafts, industry and trade and through wider charitable and educational activity.

Brian Fulton says: “I feel truly honoured to have been recognised by my peers in this way and it is a sincere privilege to become a Freeman of the Goldsmiths’ Company. This is not something that is simply given away and I feel extremely proud to be able to play an important part for caring for the future of a trade I have always felt so passionate about.”

Brian has been designing, making and selling exquisite bespoke jewellery to both the trade and public for 35 years since his training began at Openshaw College in Manchester. In his first year at the college, Brian won the Pendlebury Award for the best first year jewellery student and his passion for the craft was ignited, gaining an advanced city and guilds qualification.

Today Brian with his wife Zoe continues his lifelong passion for his craft with their latest venture Fultons Lakes Jewellery Works located in the heart of Keswick. Using traditional skills tempered with the latest technology they create unique items that cannot be found anywhere else in the county and create a unique insight into the jewellery manufacturing process. Here Brian shares his skills, passion and desire that go into creating beautiful pieces of jewellery for all to enjoy and echoing the local heritage and influences of The Keswick School of Industrial Art. Keswick’s rich history plays an influential role in the beautiful craftwork that is designed and created at Fultons and will continue to inspire Brian with his future collections.
